Young has served as a member of Tessera’s board of directors since 1991 and was chairman of the board from 1996 to 2002. Young is currently a Partner at Darwin Ventures, a private equity firm focused on venture capital. Prior to Darwin, he served as chief executive officer for Indian Rock Technology, Inc., where from 2001 to 2008 he managed personal private equity investments in technology companies. From 1998 to 2001, he served as chief executive officer of Curl Corporation, an Internet infrastructure software company. From 1986 to 1997, Young was a managing director at investment bank Dillon, Read & Co. Inc. Over an 18-year period prior to that, he held a number of management and executive positions in sales, marketing, development and general management at IBM Corporation. His last position at IBM was as president of IBM Instruments, Inc. He received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Delaware and a doctorate in physical chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
