Digital cameras can do things traditional film cameras cannot, such as display images on a screen immediately after they are taken, store thousands of images on a small memory device and delete images to free storage space. Some can crop pictures and perform other image editing; others can be less than 20 mm thick and small enough to fit in your pocket. As digital camera technology evolves, it is enabling a new range of applications such as web cams and cell phone cameras.
Tessera’s portfolio of innovative imaging and optics technologies is helping to transform the next generation of digital cameras:
- Innovative wafer-level packaging solutions make it possible to create thinner, more reliable and less expensive image sensors. This increases capacity on the small printed circuit boards inside the camera, which can then accommodate more functionality, such as easier in-camera editing and longer video recording time, for the user.
- Advanced image enhancement technologies enable manufacturers to embed powerful imaging capabilities in their still and video cameras, enabling their products to automatically take portrait-quality images every time without the need for post processing.
