Showcase
Tessera-Enabled Products Welcome to the Tessera technology and product showcase. Tessera's Intellectual Property portfolio encompasses fundamental technologies that enable companies to meet the growing demand for performance, miniaturization and reliability in a range of product areas. These include wireless and portable devices, as well as computing, networking and home entertainment products. Casio, Compaq, Dell, Ericsson, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Motorola, Nokia, Samsung and Sony are among the companies whose products incorporate our technology.
Computing
As Internet bandwidth continues to grow, applications that support multimedia, graphics, audio and video information are becoming increasingly powerful, and personal computers and workstations must be able to process large amounts of data in real time. DDR SDRAM (Double Data Rate Synchronous DRAM) and RDRAM (Rambus DRAM), as well as SRAM (Static Random Access Memory), which requires faster access times and higher speed interconnect, are used by PC and work station manufacturers to meet the need for increasingly high performance. Compaq's Deskpro EN Series Desktop PCs, Dell's OptiPlexGX300 Business Desktop PC, Hewlett-Packard's Pavilion 1Ghz PC and IBM's PC300 PL Business Desktop PC are examples of PCs and workstations that benefit from Tessera's CSP technology.
High-bandwidth Networking Devices
With the rapid growth of communications and data traffic, networking devices face demands similar to those of workstations and PCs processing increasingly large amounts of information in real time. Tessera's packaging technology is suited to the performance demands on memory architectures such as DDR SDRAM, RDRAM and SRAM, used in servers and other high bandwidth networking devices. Tessera's chip scale packaging technology is currently used in high performance DRAMs from Samsung, Toshiba, NEC, Hitachi and Hyundai. Examples of high-bandwidth devices incorporating these chips include Compaq's AP550 and SP750 Professional Workstations, Dell's 220, 420 and 620 Workstations and Hewlett-Packard's Kayak XM600 and Kayak XU 800 PC Workstations.
Home Entertainment Devices
3-D video game consoles, set top boxes, HDTV and camcorders have a variety of packaging requirements, including size, reliability and performance. High performance DRAM chips such as DDR SDRAM and RDRAM, are used in 3-D video game consoles, set top boxes and HDTV for processing video and audio information in real time. Flash cards that provide expandable memory for camcorders require reliable and compact flash memory chips. Tessera's chip scale packaging is suited to meet the requirements of all these applications. Tessera's CSP technology is currently used in the Sony PlayStation 2.
Portable Devices
Like wireless phones, portable devices such as PDAs (Personal Digital Assistants), MP3 players and digital cameras require memory optimized for size, weight, performance and cost. Flash memory using Tessera's chip scale packaging technology enables these characteristics, while allowing for the integration of new features that can support an evolving market position. Intel and other top flash memory suppliers for portable device manufacturers use Tessera technology, which is incorporated into the Casio Casseopia E-115, and cellular phones like the Ericsson T18LX., and StarTac® ST77xx family.
