The OptiML Zoom solution is based on a fixed focus lens designed to distort an image in a controlled manner, to provide variable magnification across the image sensor. It utilizes oversampling in the sensor periphery to increase the resolution in the center of the image. Because the magnification of the central image portion has been made by the solution’s optics assembly, and not by a digital interpolation, the magnified output image has higher resolution with respect to a standard digitally zoomed image. The result is true optical magnification without loss of detail.
The OptiML Zoom solution also offers superior low-power continuous zoom capabilities and significantly improved low-light performance. |
