µBGA® Applications
Tessera's µBGA® package is implemented in applications where small size, high performance and high reliability are defining requirements. Flash memory, SRAM (Static Random Access Memory), DSPs (Digital Signal Processors) and ASICs (Application Specific Integrated Circuits) are used in portable, light weight devices such as cellular phones, PDAs, MP3 players and digital cameras.

These applications are able to take advantage of the lead-bonded µBGA® s small form factor, which enables a minimal footprint, as well as its face-down structure, which provides a short signal length for high performance. High performance DRAM (Dynamic Random Access Memory), including DDR SDRAM (Double Date Rate, Synchronous DRAM) and RDRAM (Rambus DRAM), is also used in devices where size and performance, as well as high reliability are key attributes. Wireless handsets, PDAs, MP3 players and digital cameras are examples. Personal computers, workstations, networking devices and 3-D game consoles also rely on high performance DRAM for processing large amounts of information generated by multimedia, graphics, audio and video applications.
